March 23, 2009
In 1941 a man named Stanley Burroughs created something called the Master Cleanse Diet. According to singer/actress Beyonce Knowles, the Master Cleanse Diet is what made her look so good during the movie Dreamgirls.
The Master Cleanse Diet isn’t so much about losing weight as it is about feeling better. When a person follows the steps of the Master Cleanse diet, they rid their body of the toxins that are making them feel tired, anxious, depressed or simply ill. The only way the Master Cleanse diet will be successful is if you commit yourself to living a healthier life after you have rid your body of toxins.
You are not allowed to eat any solid foods during the Master Cleanse Diet. You will use a liquid made out of five ingredients to fuel your body.
Before you Start
Make sure you know all there is to know, good and bad, about the Master Cleanse Diet. There are several websites and books available. If you aren’t comfortable with the structure of the diet you shouldn’t do it.
Select a Start Date
One of the first things you need to understand about the Master Cleanse Diet is that it takes ten days to complete. Make sure that you have a ten day block where your social obligations won’t interfere with your dieting. Remember that you won’t be able to eat any solid food for at least ten days. After the initial ten day period, if you are pleased with how the diet is going, you can add extra days.
The Ingredients
Before you can start the diet you will need the following items: cayenne pepper, maple syrup, water, senna tea and lemons.
Resist Temptation
Shortly after you start the Master Cleanse Diet, when your body starts purging itself of toxins, you will crave solid food. Be strong and resist your cravings. The best way to ignore your craving is to distract yourself. Instead of worrying about your stomach you should go for a long walk, call a friend or watch a movie.
After the Cleansing
After the ten days you can start eating solid foods again. Don’t start eating every solid food you see; gradually introduce solid foods back into your system. The worse thing you can do is start eating the wrong foods. Make sure that your post Masters Cleanse Diet is healthy and well balanced.

The Ease-In, and Ease-Out periods before and after the Lemonade Diet are very important components of The Master Cleanse. They are basically the same graduation of food one reducing and one increasing in complexity of your intake.
You can greatly increase your chances of a successful cleanse by trying the Ease-In. It will also help move you towards Eating Wisely –the prolonged (hopefully) period of time following completion of the cleanse when you will no longer crave the processed foods and dead meats you used to.
Good luck to everyone who decided to improve their relationship with food.
