The Fitness Principles

December 13, 2008

Who does not want to be fit and healthy? These days everyone is into fitness. It is the new “in thing.” What would you do to stay fit? Go to a gym? Go to aerobics class? Eat healthy? But before you do all that, you need to know about the basic fitness principles.

The first rule is to know your aerobic endurance. Your workout and ability to hard work depends on you aerobic endurance. In case if you are wondering what is aerobic endurance, it is the measurement of your heart and lung’s efficiency level. It shows how promptly these two organs can work together and supply oxygen to your body when you are working out. This is also known as aerobic fitness.

After the heart and the lungs comes the fitness of the muscles. This is known as the muscular endurance. This measures how long you can hold a particular position or how many times you can repeat the same movement.

Third is the strength of the muscle. It is the capability of applying the maximum amount of force. Now it should be mentioned that muscular strength can differ from one limb to another. You might have super strong arms, but your legs on the other hand may not be that strong. But there is nothing to be upset about that, as this is totally natural.

Flexibility is another important factor. By flexibility we mean the elasticity of the muscle. In other words it is the ability to move any of the joints of the body with all its motion.

Last but not the least is the composition of your body. This measures the amount of fat you have in your body compared to the bones and the muscles. Some may confuse it with weight, but body composition is totally different. This has nothing to do with your weight at all.

If you are about to start your work out or you have already been doing that for a while, you might want to check out these criteria. If you are weak in any of the areas that have been mentioned, work on that first. Don’t forget, health is wealth, and you do not want to lose it in the process of getting fit.
