In the old times, technologically less or not developed, children used to live slower and much healthier lives. Everybody simply had to follow the great idea of going to bed early and getting up early. It may sound funny, but a lot was accomplished with these simple steps.

Today, people live very fast, which brings great damage to their overall state, of both body and mind. The dangerous fact is that teenagers and younger children keep following their parent’s lifestyle. Chasing their desire to grow up faster, teenagers turn to smoking, drinking bad drinks, eating fast food that has no nutritional value, staying up late and sleeping during the day or even not at all.

To be fit and healthy teenagers, these tips may be useful:

When it comes to FOOD…

•    Vitamins and minerals are crucial for your fitness, so try eating a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables.
•    Dairy products, such as milk, yoghurt, cheese and butter, as well as meat, fish and eggs, should be taken in moderate quantities, so don’t overindulge.
•    Avoid using fats and sugary products like sweets, cakes, biscuits, ice cream and soft drinks in large quantities. They can cause tooth decay and may otherwise harm your body. Nevertheless, you needn’t cross them out completely from your food list. Simply lessen the quantity.
•    All in all, the total food intake should be like this: most of the calories, almost 50% should come from complex carbohydrates like bread, rice and cereals; one third should be from the mentioned dairy products, and the remainder from fats.

When it comes to EXERCISE…

Having any kind of regular physical activity is of great importance for each and every one of us. Not only is it a useful means of staying  in good shape, it is also essential if we want to keep our good health. However, this is the thing that teens usually try to skip or avoid completely. Teenagers should know that there is no healthy lifestyle without exercise!

And, finally, SLEEP…

Did you know that one of the beauty secrets of famous movie stars is a sound sleep? A healthy, peaceful sleep is indicated in your face by a freshness and glow. On the other hand, lack of sleep may cause irritability and changes in the mood. So, start out your new lifestyle with a sound and long sleep.
