Take Charge of Skin Cancer
Skin Cancer is the second most common cancer for women. It hits between the ages of 20 and 29 since they are sun worshippers. Most skin cancers are curable if caught early enough. There are a lot of things that we can learn from women that have had a bad experience with skin cancer.
One young lady was diagnosed with extensive skin damage at the young age of 25. Even still, she thought she took good care of her skin. At the age of 30, she noticed a mole on her chest that had some occasional pain. She was then diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma. She now wears SPF 30 instead of 8 and a powder that has SPF protection on her face and carries it with her wherever she goes. She was a competitive swimmer so she never thought about the sun. She now makes sure that her breasts are protected at all times.
Tanning beds are also a reason that light causes skin cancer. It may not be the direct sun but it is a duplicate of the real thing. A young girl at the tender age of twenty was diagnosed with stage II melanoma. She couldn’t believe that lying on a tanning bed could cause such a trauma. She ended up needing surgery and had 70 stitches and permanent disfigurement. Remember, a good self tanning lotion can work wonders.
Another woman was diagnosed at the age of 32. Considering she was pregnant it put a lot of pressure on her and she had to make the decision to deliver early so that she could begin treatment. She actually found a lump in her groin that turned out to be stage III melanoma. It started from a mole on the back of her thigh; years before that was stage one. She now preaches to her daughters about sunscreen and that you can never wear enough.
Always remember to protect yourself, even in the winter. The sun is going to get you no matter what time of season it may be. Wears your hats and rub on the lotion to fight the war against cancer.
