We all sweat through the specific glands of the body to regulate our body temperature. But some individual’s sweat is excessive due to some imbalance in the body. Such condition is known as hyperhidrosis. There might be a situation of sweat excretion excessively from certain areas such as the hands, feet, underarms, or face. The problem is more common in adolescence but may goes recognized many times.
On the basis of 2004 survey it was estimated that almost 3% of the U.S. population suffers from hyperhidrosis. Doctors say that in people suffering from hyperhidrosis have sweat glands, normal in size, number, and location, but the brain, sends wrong signals to sweat excessively from a localized area. Most of the patients have a family history of hyperhidrosis, indicating the problem is genetic.
The doctors assert that hyperhidrosis is not caused by anxiety but nervousness about sweating can aggravate sweating. Before getting treated for excessive sweating you should always check for other health problems for which sweating is a symptom, for example diabetes and hyperthyroidism. The side effect of many drugs can be a reason to sweating. So one should always investigate the possible causes other than hyperhidrosis
Some dermatologist suggests Botox to treat excessive Sweating. Some have undergone the treatment with Botox and found, excessive sweating stopped within few days of getting Botox injections.
Scientists are trying to research but not sure what causes excessive sweating.
