Speeding up your metabolism
If you have been learning about your metabolism, you may already know that a fast metabolism means faster fat burning. Having this faster metabolism is the key to losing weight and staying in shape.
While any type of food will boost your metabolism to some degree, we are going to focus on the foods that do it the best.
For a faster metabolism, you need to be eating a lot of foods that are high in carbohydrates and also a lot of protein. What’s that you say? I thought carbohydrates made you fat? This isn’t always true.
It is common knowledge with experts that eating foods with a lot of carbs and protein can help your body burn up to 25% more calories. This calorie burn occurs during the processes of absorption and also digestion.
Eating more carbohydrates and protein alone will not make you lose weight! The same goes for dietary supplements, such as health shakes, mineral supplements and vitamin pills.
Instead, you should eat good food, regularly, to ensure that your body has all that it needs to increase your metabolism. The following is a list of food items that are recommended to increase your metabolism:
* Eggs.
* Green beans.
* Whole grain foods.
* Good, fresh cheese.
* Squash (summer variety).
* Asparagus.
* Cabbage.
* High protein meats (such as chicken).
* Water. It’s not a food item but it’s one of the most important items on this list. Water is essential for health and vitality. Cold water is known to increase your metabolism. You should drink plenty of water each day.
Speeding up your metabolism is just one part of weight loss. If you wish to get really healthy, you must eat good, nutritious meals, and then couple that with a good exercise routine.
After all, you have to stay active to have an active body. Increasing your muscles will help you burn off calories faster. It will make you more capable of activities that help with weight loss.
If you stick to the above plan and stay smart, active and committed, there is only one thing that can happen – you will lose weight and get healthy, which is your ultimate goal in the end.
