Body needs energy to function and carbohydrates are the main source of energy supply to the human body. The major sources of carbohydrates are almost all plants foods, such as vegetables, peas, beans. Milk and milk products also contain sufficient amount of carbohydrates.

Carbohydrates are divides into two groups, simple and complex carbohydrates. Simple carbohydrates often termed as simple sugars, include fructose and sucrose and lactose. Fruits like mango and bananas, chickoo are the richest sources of carbohydrates. Not all carbohydrates are useful for human body, manmade carbohydrates like pasta, pizza, most varieties of bread, noodles, and so forth are very less beneficial.

The best way to obtain carbohydrates is from fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are rich in carbohydrate content, especially if eaten raw. In fresh vegetables water content may be upto 70%,proteins ,fat and vitamins make upto 5 % , but major part is 25% which consumed by edible sugars and starches.
It is recommended that a healthy diet must include carbohydrate nutrients. For healthy carbohydrate content one must eat those in natural form like eat the whole orange, instead of drinking orange juice. One must not drink canned juices as they contain artificial sugars and are not original form of carbohydrates.

It is very good to eat raw vegetables rather than cooked ones, like spinach if eaten raw will be more beneficial for the body .The best property of carbohydrates is that they are instant energy busters, but if carbohydrates are not eventually burned off they are converted into fat straight away. This is the case even with healthy carbohydrates; the situation worsens with junk food carbohydrates.

Carbohydrates must be consumed according to body needs and weight , for a person who is overweight must take care about the amount of carbohydrates that he consumes each day , because if these carbohydrates are not burned then it can result in putting extra kilos in your body weight. All white sugar products like ice creams, candies, cookies contain artificial carbohydrates which are not recommended.
