Sleeping and Weight Loss
Believe it or not, the amount of sleep that you get can be a great contributor to whether or not you lose or gain weight. You read right, by not getting enough sleep, you body does not function properly and it can lead to overeating and weight gain. This is also a factor since getting too little sleep puts unnecessary stress on your body.
Getting enough sleep is not only a health factor for losing weight but your all around well being of staying healthy. Lack of sleep can lead to other health disorders as well. As we get older, our bodies change over time and so the amount of sleep that is required will change with age.
If you are having trouble getting a good night’s sleep, there are several things that you can change and or do so that you can get a better night’s rest. Getting plenty of exercise is a great start. You should have a regular routine and be on a schedule, eat six small meals a day and don’t smoke, drink alcohol or have too much caffeine. These things can help get your body on a better sleeping schedule.
Other things that you can do to help you get a better night’s sleep is to drink less before going to bed, don’t eat right before going to sleep but don’t go to bed hungry either. You should eat smaller meals throughout out the day to avoid being hungry and it is a great way to lose weight.
Try putting your body on a routine with going to bed and getting up at the same time everyday. This will help your body to recognize that you are getting a good night’s sleep. If, for some reason, you happen to wake up during the night, avoid looking at the clock. This could cause anxiety and cause you to lose sleep. One last tip, if you are a pet owner, let them sleep on the floor. With them moving around, it could be causing you to lose some of that precious sleep.
