Simple Diet Mistakes That Can Sabotage Your Weight Loss
Getting the best out of a weight loss plan requires motivation and consistency. The best results are also achieved by keeping away from the simple diet related mistakes that we make.
Low carb Vs. Low fat: Going on a low fat diet is sensible as long as it does not involve dangerously low caloric intake. A diet has to be well balanced to provide basic calories to sustain the body.
Low carbohydrate diet should not be followed to the extent of avoiding carbohydrates completely. Also eating refined flour and high sugar foods will contradict the very idea of being on diet. There are huge benefits in eating natural and unrefined products.
Alcohol intake: Alcohol is a source of empty calories and increases body weight. While on a diet to lose body fat, avoid alcohol completely to reap benefits of the diet.
Artificial sweeteners: Artificial sweeteners are best avoided. They are lower in calories but decrease the metabolic rate and make the body crave more calories. It is best to avoid them or at the very least, use them in moderation to avoid other health complications.
Mindless eating: It is recommended to sit at a table for a meal. This focuses attention on eating. It prevents distraction in other forms and promotes healthy eating habits.
Eating while watching TV makes us overeat. Mindfully enjoying food helps with savouring food and having smaller portion sizes.
Water consumption: Adequate water consumption helps to rid the body of excess fluids and leads to weight loss. Also, increased consumption of water helps to increase the metabolic rate.
This will in turn increase the rate of fat burn. Increase water consumption eliminates the need for the body to have excess water stores and hence, will lead to the release of water thereby reducing weight.
Portion Size: Portion size is important while dieting. It is sensible to eat only an appropriate amount. This will help you count your calories and control over sized portions that only leads to weight gain. Also, keep enticing and junk food options away from sight to avoid temptation.
