Silence And Self
“Speech is silver, silence is gold”- this is what we have been taught since our childhood. However, we realize the importance of life as we grow up rather than when we are kid. It is not only an old saying by grandma but, scientifically proved also.
Yes, a recent study came up with the report that a few minutes of keeping silence can reduce the level of stress and strain to a great low.
The research says that silence is a great stress buster, as it makes us aware about many things in life, which we usually overlook or never listen and see as they are obscured by everyday noise, pollution and commotion.
Many of us think that what is there great about keeping silence, as anyone and at any time can do it. I bet, keeping silence is not an easy thing to do. It also requires a lot of practice and habit. Many opine that with the help of keeping quiet, we actually conserve energy and it connects us to our inner world easily.
Now, I would suggest you to take a test and see whether keeping silence is really easy like you claim. Just try to remember, when was the last time you had switched of all the modern day gadgets like phone, i-pode or television and radio.
If you have not done so since a very long time or ever then switch them off at a time for few days and try to live the life. During this course, try to speak less, but do all your daily work. I bet, you will feel the difference during these few days and will also realize the real strength of yours.
Being in silence means not restricting the sound coming from outer world, which is not under control as well.
What you can do is that be quite and don’t react that much to the sound coming from other source as well. Or else, you can buy noise-canceling headphones to experience the bliss of live, which resides inside you.
