It is really important to get a physical checkup done on a regular basis regardless of age. Even if you are healthy and physically active and fit but still you should visit or consult a doctor on a scheduled basis.  Regular visits will ensure fitness in future.  You can get vaccinations on time, if required and know the appropriate screening tests for your age for example, a sexually active woman, should be getting a regular Pap smear to test for cervical cancer.  The threatening disorders such as high cholesterol or high blood pressure should be diagnosed on time to be kept under control as it enhances the possibility of various ailments in the body. Moreover, you should have a family physician to rely on, if you ever fall ill or need immediate care.

A dentist for regular cleanings and checkups is essential for dental health. In case of woman, a regular gynecological checkup is a must for various infections, pelvic exams, including Pap smears. You might need to visit more frequently, depending on the screening tests you need and the medical issues as per your age

One of the troubles we face is the coordination and communication amongst the number of doctors we consult such as the dentist, eye doctor, gynecologist, cardiologists, gastroenterologist etc. You should make it a habit of keeping medical records in proper order and sequence of consultation. The reason for the visit, tests ordered, and all results are important for future reference. Test findings such as like X-rays and mammograms should be kept for record.

If a woman is planning a baby, then the role of health-care provider is extremely important. You can prepare for a healthy pregnancy before you become pregnant by the necessary precautions. Experts, now say that the prenatal visit is late for an optimal outcome. They urge women to make preconception visits to their health-care provider.
