Reaching Fifty
Upon reaching fifty, people start thinking about what they want to do with their lives; how they can make it better and ensure that they lead a happy life. The foundation of a happy and fulfilling life is good health. The best and most effective way to ensure good health is through exercise.
Benefits of Exercise
Not only does exercise make you more fit and equip you with the ability to prevent disease, it also has anti-aging properties. It also increases the strength of your joints and muscles and thereby guarding you against falling and bruising.
Exercise also helps us become happier and fights depression. However, the most obvious benefit of exercise is definitely weight loss and a toned, beautiful body.
When trying to motivate oneself in to getting in to an exercise routine, one should write down all the benefits and refer to it occasionally.
Things to Remember
Ensure that you work out at least half an hour each day and focus on trying to increase the intensity and duration of exercise gradually. One reason that people lose their focus is that they get bored with exercise, so be sure to choose activities that you enjoy.
Also, be sure to have a warm-up and cool-down period before and after your workout. This helps to stretch your muscles and makes them less stiff, thereby increasing the strength of your joints, and preventing an injury during exercise.
Some people become too ambitious and try to work their bodies too hard. Not only will these cause injuries, it may also burn you out faster and stop you from exercising again.
Remember, if you are doing any strength building exercises, you need to let your muscles rest and this is the period in which they grow.
Exercising with friends and family will help to keep the activity fun and interesting. Also, you should not neglect your diet, as what you eat is also a factor when it comes to maintaining your health and fitness.
Make sure you take a lot of fruits and vegetables. Remember, you’re only fifty once, and now is the time to make most of what you have.
