July 2, 2009

protindietProtein is known to be the building block of muscles. Muscles are denser than fat and when developed and maintained, offer a lean and slim look. As a result of this property, building muscle is an important step in weight loss.

How do you increase your protein intake? Protein is found in our daily food. However, the quantities may be sufficient to meet our weight loss goals.

It is possible to substitute and supplement protein intake.

There are a variety of products in the market that allow this. Protein intake can be increased in the form of consuming pills or protein shakes.

Protein helps build muscle, give a feeling of being full and therefore reduce caloric intake. An average adult will need up to 55 grams of protein in a day. Some protein shakes can be used as meal replacements in itself!

Protein shakes can be made at home. These can be made using the freshest ingredients and are considered healthy since they do not have any sweeteners or artificial ingredients.

It is also possible to buy pre-made shakes off the shelf from stores. They come in a variety of flavors and serving recommendations. These shakes are in a powder form and need to be mixed with water or juice or milk.

It is important to remember that proteins also contain calories. It is not sufficient to consume as many protein shakes as possible and expect great results. You should burn the extra calories by way of a sensible exercise program.

It is highly suggested that the protein intake is from real food and not only supplements. It is easy to make protein shakes at home. Here are some simple tips to making a healthy protein shake at home:
