Protect Your Skin and Hair during a Beach Vacation
Beaches and islands are everyone’s favorite vacation get-away. Long hours on the beach sun-bathing is undoubtedly relaxing and perfect for a holiday. However, the sun’s rays are extremely strong in coastal areas.
Over exposure to the scorching sun during your beach holiday can lead to tanning, sun-burn and cause pre-mature ageing of the skin. Besides, the strong rays of the sun can have a damaging effect on hair.
Follow the simple tips discussed below so that you look radiant even after a scorching beach vacation.
The first rule is to apply a good quality sun-block cream to all exposed body parts. Use a sun-block cream with a minimum SPF of 25 or more for it to be effective. To protect your hair from the sun, apply a hair gel with a sun-block and tie it up.
If possible, wear a hat on the beach as this will protect both your hair and skin from the direct sun rays. Realxing on the beach under a beach umbrella is also a good idea to minimize the damage that the harsh rays of the sun can cause.
Don’t forget your lip-balm for the lips. A lip-balm with a suitable SPF is important to protect your lips from getting chapped or sun-burnt. To keep your body and skin hydrated from within, ensure you keep sipping water or juices during your outing at the beach.
The salty sea water can quickly cause moisture loss from the skin. After a dip in the sea water, take a bath as quickly as possible using a mild body soap or a hydrating body gel.
After the shower, ensure you apply generous quantities of a moisturizing cream all over your body. The moisturizer will soothe your skin and relive any itching resulting from long hours in the salty sea waters.
It is also important to wash the salty water off your hair using a good shampoo and follow it with a conditioner to protect your tresses and restore the lost moisture from your hair.
So, the next time you go on a beach vacation, you know how to protect yourself from the harsh sun and remain radiant looking!
