Preparing Quick Breakfasts

Breakfast has been awarded the most important meal of the day. However, not many people follow this golden rule. In fact, the easiest meal to skip is breakfast. You wake up late and then rush to your work. At times, you do not even realise that you missed your breakfast.

The fatal mistake that people commit here is that by missing breakfast, they miss the first meal of the day and go on to burn calories for the rest of the day. So the next time your body gets fuel, it tends to store it up for future. Guess what, the stored fuel is fat. So if you miss breakfast, you put on fat. If you can live with this truth then it is all fine. However, if you are on your feet, thinking about what you will prepare for breakfast tomorrow, then you will have some help here.

Some essential foods for breakfast

If you want to prepare a quick breakfast, quick in the sense of preparation and not in the sense of eating, then you need to keep some food items ready in your kitchen.

Some of these essentials include eggs, milk, peanut butter, honey, yoghurt, fresh fruit, crackers, cereals, toasted bread, eggplant, nuts, unsalted low-fat cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, fresh mint, juice and coffee.

Now that you have these essentials ready, get ready to note down the quick recipes.

French toast

Ingredients: You will need 4 slices of toasted bread (brown or white), 3 beaten eggs, 1 tbsp of sugar, 1 tbsp of milk and 1 tsp vanilla extract.
Method: Mix together the ingredients except the bread, till sugar dissolves completely. Put a skillet on medium heat and till it heats coat both sides of each bread slice with the egg mixture. Cook the coated breads till they turn golden brown. You can put a dash of maple syrup on them or serve with fresh fruit.

Peanut-Banana mouthwash

Ingredients: You will need 2 slices of toasted bread, 1 tbsp crunchy peanut butter and 1 ripe banana sliced.
Method: Spread the bread with peanut butter, put the banana slices on top, and cover with another slice of bread. Mouth-watering, isn’t it?

Nut’n’Honey with Yogurt’n’fruit

Ingredients: You will need 1 tbsp crushed almonds or hazelnuts, 1tbsp pure honey, 2 tbsp fresh berries and one cup plain 2% M.F. yogurt.
Method: Mix it all and enjoy.

Pita and Cucumber Roll

Ingredients: You will need one pita bread, one large cucumber with less or no seeds, 1 sprig of fresh mint and 3 slices of unsalted soft cheese.
Method: Put the mint, cheese and cucumber in the centre of the bread. Add some salt to taste. Now roll it up.

Good morning smoothies

Ingredients: You will need 1 cup 2% M.F. Milk, few sliced strawberries, stems removed, 2 tbsp yogurt and 2 tbsp pure honey.
Method: Mix it all in a blender and be refreshed.

With all these quick recipes and the classic ones like milk and oatmeal cereal breakfast with you, you should not find it difficult to grab a bite before you rush off to work.
