Preksha Dhyaan: A Meditation Technique
Based on the wisdom of ancient philosophy and modern scientific concepts, Preksha Dhyaan is a meditation technique which aims at the purification of one’s mind and psychological self. It works on the concept of attaining a balance of mind and body thereby aiming at the well being of the entire body. The term Preksha implies Perception and Dhyaan stands for Concentration. Thus, this entire meditation technique is built around concentration of one’s perception which in turn sharpens one’s conscious mind to perceive internal realities.
You must have seen and experienced that controlling one’s mind is not easy as it keeps on wandering on various worldly issues. This method aims at controlling one’s mind which can be brought about by a concentration on the perception of breath followed by a slow and gradual reduction in the rate of breathing. The first step involved in this form of mediation is the relaxation of one’s entire body and mind. After relaxing oneself, one should try to direct one’s full attention to one’s breath by excluding all sorts of thoughts and sensations. Try regulating your breathing by making it slow, deep and rhythmic. Then one should focus one’s attention on the navel to become fully aware of the contraction and expansion of the abdomen which accompanies the inhalation and exhalation process. One should continue this slow and rhythmic breathing and should gradually shift one’s attention from the navel to the entire process of respiration. Watch and experience your own breath which would make a person completely involved with himself without any external distraction. To finish the meditation, one should take two or three long breaths. This process helps in building up the concentration level of a person along with aiding in the entire harmony and equilibrium of one’s body and mind.

Hi,
It seems the desire to perfect oneself is also very ego centric which would lead to more suffering. How would you recommend resolving this type of conflict for ego centric suffering?
Namaste,
Steve
This is not the desire to perfect oneself, it is the technique to see oneself … big difference in two and the latter is not at all egocentric or centric to anything
