Portion Control-The Key to weight loss
Fad diets are no way to go. You must have realised that by now. You can eat what you want as long as you control yourself. The best way to monitor and control what you eat is to control your portions. This article provides some tips as to how you can do it.
Control your portions at home
Take only as much as you need in your plate.
You do not need to put everything on the table. Take what you need and keep the rest for later. If you have many things on the table, you are likely to have all of them. This way you will not be able to remember how much you had of each of them and overeat.
Halve your portions
If the portions are big, you do not need to eat them all. Cut them up into half and share or store for later.
Eat slowly
Do not gobble up all that is in your plate. You aren’t in a competition. Take time to eat and savour your food.
Clear the table
If you have finished eating, avoid sitting there and chatting. This will tempt you to a second helping. Clear the table and then chat.
Do not eat from the packet
If you have to eat junk food, avoid eating it straight out of the packet. Put it in a bowl so that you control what you are eating.
Eat more small meals
Have 5-6 small meals throughout the day. This will keep you full all day and you will not be so hungry at every meal.
Control your portions at restaurants
Dressing on the side
Always ask for your dressings, sauces and toppings to be on the side. This way you can measure the right amount.
Check the portion sizes
Make sure you know how much is in the portion you have ordered. If it is too big then order a smaller one or split it.
Avoid the super-sizes
The portions are big to start with and then on top of it you order the super-sized one. You are simply spelling disaster for yourself.
Avoid buffets
If you are the one who finishes it all at buffets then avoid them altogether.
Eat all, but in control
You do not have to restrict yourself from the wonderful tastes out there. You simply have to control yourself from going overboard for those tastes.
