Overweight – food replacement
If you use food as a reward, then you are certain to grow in size and weight. People are getting fatter day by day.
There are multitudes of health problems that surround us because of our excessive weight. An increase in lethargy and reduction in motivation are all a consequence of our being overweight. It is as if we are becoming a nation full of couch potatoes.
However, there is no compulsion to continue our lives in this unhealthy way. Stop giving yourself rewards of food. If only it were so simple.
The problem lies in our minds and it is our minds that need some refurbishing before we start working on our bodies. Although it sounds too difficult to achieve, it is not entirely impossible.
The problem lies in the fact that food is basically a reward. So, when you use it as one, it is bound to create problems. Food is our source of energy. Therefore, we should be taking only as much energy as we need. However, what happens is that we replace food from being a source of energy to being a reward and who will not like a reward?
The simple thing to do would be to replace food with some other things that can double up as rewards. This will release us from the temptation of overeating because we think we deserve to do so.
Here are a few suggestions as to what can serve as potential rewards.
Some good rewards
Reward yourself with some fun time with either your car or dog. Get hold of a few toys and enjoy.
Go for a day out at some nearby beach. Spend the day clearing your mind.
Go shopping at some one dollar store.
Do some good and volunteer at a local elementary for one or two hours.
Give yourself some time to play. Choose a game that you like, it can be anything, tennis, or some video games or even blowing bubbles as long as you enjoy doing it.
Play with your children. Take them to a skating rink or for swimming.
Give yourself a makeover. Get some nice cosmetics and try a new look.
Buy one of your favourite CDs and spend some time enjoying it.
Spend some time doing your hobby.
All you need is to divert your mind a little and you can lead a healthy life.
