Organic Foods
With already soaring prices of food, it is not so easy to pay more for organic choices. So a wiser selection is a must. Organic foods are healthier as they are grown without using synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers. As a result fewer toxicants are entering our body with organic foods.
There are some organic food items which are worth buying, for example spinach and lettuce. Instead of spending for expensive salads you can buy the organic version of the food items that make healthy salads as they are eaten raw.
Organic bell peppers are better choice as it contains the highest level of pesticide residue. This category includes celery, peaches, nectarines, and cherries. Apples eaten should be organic. It was found that 92 percent of the tested apples were positive for pesticide residues and 72% of apples contained various bug killers on their peel. Better consume peanut butter. The chemicals tend to disperse in oils. There are about 28 different pest-killers found in peanut butter upon testing.
Bugs love sweetened fruits, so the random F.D.A. tests found trace amounts of approximately 38 different kinds of pesticides on these luscious, soft-skinned fruits, such as, strawberries. The oils that are used in Microwave Popcorn are responsible for the harmful contaminants in popcorn. The organic brand costs only a few cents more per bag than the inorganic oils
There is a category of foods “Not worth Buying Organic”. The entire residue from cattle feed is metabolized to milk fat, which gets removed if you guzzle low-fat or skimmed milk. Moreover, all milk, organic or not is free of antibiotics. Chicken, Fish and meats in general do not produce many residues so there is no need to have it organic.
Very few synthetic chemicals are used in the production of olives which are processed to manufacture oil as compare to other conventional crops so no need to waste your money for organic olive oils.
