Nutritious foods
If only there were foods that we could consume and become supermen or even normal healthy human beings. But then, we do not live in the world of if only’s and what if’s.
However, there are some foods that are actually rich in nutrients and can be called super foods. At the same time, there are others that are all talk and no results. It is important to know what you are eating and be sure that what you are eating is actually going to provide your body with what it promises, otherwise it is just as good as any everyday food.
The real thing
Berries
These little wonders are in fact a super food. They have loads of antioxidants that help fight cancer and signs of aging. They also have a lot of fibre, so no more clogged pipes for you. Some claim that you can improve your brainpower with berries. However, opt for the organic ones because, some kinds can have loads of pesticides too.
Spinach
Popeye was not wrong in depending on spinach for every trouble. It might not give you the results he experienced; however, you can expect it to give more than most other foods. It has loads of Vitamins K, A, C, B2, besides manganese, folate, magnesium and calcium. Scientists say that these green leafies have at least 13 compounds that fight cancer and keep the brain well during old age.
Yogurt
Studies show that yogurt can help you lose weight and put on muscle and build bones. Scientists do not know how yogurt works its white magic, however they support the effectiveness just as much.
The fakers
Soy
Soy is considered to be heart healthy. However, besides being heart healthy it has several other compounds that may not seem to be so enticing. For example, unfermented soy contains phytoestrogens, which are a type of estrogen. Guys, if you take a lot of these you will end up with a deflated libido. They also block trypsin, which helps in protein digestion. However, fermented soy products like miso and soy sauce are not that bad.
Wheatgrass juice
Of course, it has nutrients but not so much as it claims. It has about the same amount of nutrients that broccoli has. You can include it as a part of your diet but not your only diet.
The truth
It is true that super foods have many nutrients. However, to solely depend on them is foolishness. You should keep a balanced diet while including them.
