Need Of Physical Fitness For Senior Citizens
The longevity of a person depends upon many factors. However, physical fitness has been one of the prime factors to be taken care of, in case you want to live a long and healthy life. The awareness about the importance of being physically fit is more among Americans and that is the reason why their senior citizens live longer.
When I am talking about physical fitness, does not mean that you have to do all those exercises what you used to do thirty or twenty years ago. Being physically fit means, you have to be careful about certain aspects of life and to do some light exercises. Here, I will talk about the basic things the senior citizens should do to keep themselves fit.
The foremost thing you need to do is to consult with your regular doctor and ask him whether any kind of modification or any restriction should be there if you plan to go for some exercises.
If you have decided to do some physical exercises then start slowly and never overdo it. For first few days, examine yourself and see how much stress your body can take for which you have to keep a tab on the timing and the state of your health. You decide yourself how much time you can work for in a day.
The best form of exercise during old age is to take brisk work regularly at a particular time in the day. If it is early morning then it is the best time to go for a walk. You can also go to a gym, but make sure that you work out under an instructor.
Apart from doing exercise, make it a point that you keep on moving when you are home also. Try to do small things on your own like getting a glass of water from refrigerator or opening the door for the guest.
Another important thing you need to be aware is that try to give up bad habits if you have. Yes, give up all those bad habits and make room for a planned active day without any compromise.
