Making healthy milkshakes

Easy to prepare, milkshakes are also very refreshing. With the careful choice of ingredients, they are perfect replacements for meals. It’s necessary to take the right ingredents because the calories in them can spoil your diet.

If you are seriously into the milkshake idea upon your meal, then it’s a must that you have a blender, as it will make the procedure easier.

Keep in mind that all your meals should not be replaced by a milkshake. Have them when you can’t prepare your meals. It’s recommended to have milkshakes either after a workout or before going to sleep, as that’s the time when your muscles absorb the nutrients.

Ingredients for the milkshakes depend on the purpose of its intake. Is it simply for the sake of having milkshake, or for energy boost or for building body mass after a workout? If your aim is an energy boost, then include vital vitamins and carbohydrates. If it is to build mass after a workout, then add quality of protein in it.

Energy milkshakes: If energy boost is your aim, then complex carbohydrates should be included as they fuel up the muscles. They are found in most fruits and ice cream. Bananas and strawberries are vitamin and mineral rich fruits and they taste well together. Other fruits like oranges, mangoes, berries, kiwis and apples are also good options. You just have to peel the fruit properly and cut them into small pieces and blend. For more calories you can also use your favorite ice cream, milk or curd. If you want a low calorie shake then mix water in the fruits and blend with some ice cubes.

Mass building milkshakes: If your goal is to build mass, then bananas should be the base of the shake and include grams of proteins. Also include milk, some protein and your favorite ice-cream in the shake. For proteins you can use protein powder. However, you can also include egg white in your banana, milk and ice-cream milkshake, if you want to have a protein rich milkshake.

As per your preference, go in your kitchen and make a healthy milkshake for your self and enjoy.
