Liquid Diets

There are many diet plans out on the market today.  Some revolve around foods while others revolve around liquids.  A liquid fasting diet, much like it sounds, uses liquids as the main form of nutrition.  Those who follow a liquid fasting diet drink nutritional beverages made from fruits and vegetables to acquire the proper nutrients needed to sustain the body while on this form of diet.  Liquid fasting diets help participants drop weight fast while providing an optimised view of the dieting process.  Those that see results quickly are more apt to remain on the diet and move forward with a lifestyle of healthy weight management.  The following tips provided will help you with your liquid fasting diet.

Prior to beginning any diet regime, consult with your doctor first.  While on a liquid diet, it is important to avoid dairy products.  This cannot be emphasized enough.  Dairy products are hard for your body to digest while on this diet.

Protein is a necessary nutrient in any weight loss program.  Your body needs at least 20 grams of protein a day to function properly.  Smoothies made with soy, rice or whey protein powder provide enough protein to last you throughout the day.  And, they taste great for breakfast.  In addition to protein, your body needs vitamins and minerals.  These can be found in fruit juices or in supplement form.

Reduce the amount of caffeine and alcohol that you consume while on this diet.  Caffeine and alcohol dehydrate the body and can cause you to lose water.

When consuming fruit juices, make sure they are natural.  Fruit juices that have sugars such as fructose or glucose can increase hunger.  Opt for fresh fruit juices or a diluted store brand fruit juice.

When you are on a liquid fasting diet, do not forget to add some fat.  Fat absorbs food that is consumed and is stored for energy.  Plus, fat will keep you from experiencing hunger.

While on a liquid fasting diet you are not receiving the same amount of calories or energy that you would if consuming solid foods.  It is important to drink plenty of liquids throughout the day, usually every two-to-three hours.  Fresh vegetable and fruit juices are recommended.  Water consumption is also important while on this diet.  Water helps to process any nutrients taken in while cleansing the body of toxins.  Herbal teas are a great way to provide energy to your body.  Their anti-oxidant qualities purify the blood and allow oxygen to flow freely.
