Know About Atkins Diet
You must have heard of Atkins diet, as we come across many diets labeled with the particular name in almost all superstores of the market. Now, let’s know about what is this Atkins diet.
The Atkins diet is a diet plan designed by Dr. Robert Atkins. He had designed the diet plan in 1970’s following he came across some facts and figures in the Journal of the American Medical Association. With the help of that diet plan, he was able to shed weight successfully and later he revealed his dietary plan to the world by writing a book. With the time, the book’s popularity reached a new height in this new millennium.
Dr. Atkins himself was overweight and after following the diet plan, he could shed weight and that is the reason why people believe in the authenticity of his experiments and plans.
The Atkins diet is all about shunning foods, which are rich in carbohydrates. According to his dietary plan, one should have protein as much as possible. To get protein, you can rely upon egg whites, meat, fruits, green vegetables and nuts. He specially cautioned not to have foods, which contain refined carbohydrates. So, one should avoid corn, sugar, syrup and processed food.
Contrary to the usual belief and practice, he also mentioned that saturated fats are not that harmful like Trans fats. One should be aware about this fact. Given this idea, the Atkins diet plan includes foods, which are high in fats but a strict no to carbohydrates. One should prefer t-bone steak rather than going for French fries or baked potatoes, which are filled with carbohydrates.
Atkins diet plan is popular across the world and many food stuff comes with the brand labeled as Atkins diet. Given the above idea about this particular diet plan, I believe now you can make your choice on your own to keep yourself perfectly fine.
