In-Line Skating The New Cardio

Are you looking for a new way to get that cardio workout but hate staying indoors? Try in-line skating as your new way to fitness. By skating, you put less pressure on your joints and muscles as opposed to the traditional way of exercise.

If you have never been on a pair of skates before then you should start out slowly and practice a bit before hitting the concrete. Try walking around the house on the carpet first or even out in the grass on your front lawn. This will give you the opportunity to learn how to keep your balance not to mention how to walk in them.

Having the proper form when skating is very important as to avoid injury so you want to make sure that your arms are always a tad in front of you so that they can take the brunt of a fall. Keep your feet side by side also to help you keep your balance and weight even. Also, keep your knees slightly bent to also help with your balance.

Before getting out there and playing speed racer, start out on a flat surface so that you can learn how to break when needed. Once you get the right posture and balance along with breaking down, you can then try out small hills at first and work your way up. Baby steps, you have to crawl before you can walk.

Last thing is protection. Make sure that you have the correct body armor before you hit the pavement. Wrist and knee guards along with a proper fitting helmet should get you started. You can even wear a pair of gloves to protect your hands for when you fall.

In-line skating will get you outdoors to have fun with the sun and enjoy the summer while staying fit the fun way. So try something new with your cardio routine and get out there and skate. Don’t knock it till you try it as they say.
