April 27, 2009
If you are ready to embark on a weight loss plan but you don’t know how to start, this article is what will help you. It is purposely written for those who have done all the reading about weight loss and have enough motivation to start. You just have to be certain that you have made the right choice.
Start now.
This is what is most important. How slow or small your first step is does not matter. The most important thing is to start. You can start by going for a walk, joining a gym or avoiding your loved dessert for something healthier. You cannot be wrong about this. There is nothing like the right or wrong start in this case.
Set goals
You have to set goals for yourself. You cannot achieve anything if you don’t have goals. Goals determine where you want to go and how you want to get there. If you don’t have the right mental picture of what you want to be you cannot get the needed determination to get there. You need to determine how much weight you want to lose and the time frame for losing it.
You need to write down these goals so that you can refer to them from time to time to see your progress. One thing about us human beings is that we tend to forget easily. Writing down your goals and constantly referring to them will help you track your progress.
Prepare your menu
Prepare your menu including your food options and the quantities in which you want to eat them. This is the most difficult part for most people because it is difficult to determine how much of which food is recommended.
To know how much calories you need a day, multiply your bodyweight by 10. Your true weight is the one you have when you get up in the morning without clothes on.
You can also list all the things you eat over three days. Get a calorie counter and add up the calories of the meals you eat to make a total for each of the three days.
Add the totals and divide by three. This is an average of the calories you eat daily. Subtract 500 from the result to arrive at your calorie allowance for a day.
