How to Get Started With an Exercise Program

exerciseprogramAt the cost of sounding unpleasant, you know that there is no magic wand to help you reduce your fat content and get that shapely figure.

Very often you must have promised yourself before retiring for the night that tomorrow morning you’re positively going to the gym, but at the last moment when the alarm buzzes, you just switch it off and again promise to start your exercise routine the next day.

Despite knowing the benefits of exercising, we tend to ignore following a definite, proper exercise regime. The problem is getting started with it. Here are a few hints to get you in that mode.

Step 1

As a start, make a list of a few activities that you love to perform.  Walking, cleaning, dancing gardening and hiking, etc. are all forms of exercise.
It’s important to consult your physician before starting on any of the activities if you haven’t been into any exercise routine for a long time.

Step 2

Exercising doesn’t always imply going to the gym and lifting weights. Gardening, for instance, is an exercise. Think of all the activities it involves. Removing weeds, using a shovel to even the earth and digging, are all activities that result in muscular and aerobic exercises.

Step 3

You have to remain active to reach your goal. Once you have been initiated into it, you’ll begin to like it. Soon you’ll start enjoying it too.

Step 4

Well, for getting started you have to make a determined effort. You don’t like gardening. Fine; try washing your car. The idea is to get yourself in that frame of mind and get prompted to perform an activity that you love.

You may try different forms of exercise for the first few days until you finally hit upon the one you like most.

Step 5

Go for a walk. You begin to wonder how walking helps you to get the kind of figure you want to have.

Again, you are off-track. Remember, first you have to accept the idea of performing some kind of exercise on a regular basis. Walk, clean, swim, squat, but perform some activity.

Step 6
Having chosen your activity, stick to it for a few days and then stretch it to couple of weeks. Now you are ready to jump into any form of activity (or shall I say an exercise) that you consider beneficial.
