How to Gain Weight with a High Metabolism
It is hard to gain weight when you have a fast metabolism especially if you are working out. People with a high metabolic rate burn more calories then they consume. They just cannot gain weight. It is hard to feel sorry for them but it is a real problem for them.
These people in the bodybuilding world are called hard gainers. But they can build muscle. There are some things you can do to gain weight and build muscle if you have a high metabolism.
With weight training, you know you will be lifting weights and putting on pounds of muscle. Start by just working out three times a week. Do not do any aerobic activity because you do not want to burn the extra calories. For your workouts, use free weights like dumbbells and barbells and pulley machines.
Estimate how many calories you burn each day. You really have to follow a special diet that will give you surplus calories. For example, if you eat 2000 calories a day now, increase it to 2500 calories a day. If you are a really hard gainer, you could possibly be eating as much as 3000 to 4000 calories. With you workouts your body will grow muscle.
You must eat more calories then you burn. Gaining muscle will be hard work. It means a lot of meal planning and eating along with your workouts. Eat six meals a day. For instance, if you need 3000 calories a day, that would be 500 calories for each meal. You should consume a protein source, a carb source and a fat source with each meal.
If you have a hard time fitting in all these calories, try protein shakes and protein bars. Body builders usually eat forty percent of their total diet in protein. They eat another 40 percent in carbohydrates and twenty percent in fats.
It sounds like a paradox to eat really healthy food when you could gain weight on junk food. Muscle will not grow with the wrong foods. This low fat diet will help you build muscle instead of fat.
