How to Create a Daily Exercise Routine
March 4, 2009
One of the key factors in creating and maintaining a healthy body is exercise. The irony is that most of us have an easier time avoiding junk food and counting calories, than we do getting a sufficient amount of exercise.
We usually start the day with the best of intentions, but then we get caught up in the little things that fill our days and the next thing we know we are climbing into bed and haven’t managed to even find enough time to walk around the block. The best way to make sure that you get enough exercise each day is to create a daily exercise routine and then stick with it.
Why Are Your Exercising?
Decide why you are exercising. Do you want to lose weight, boost your metabolism, gain more strength, or develop a stronger cardiovascular system? The system you want to improve will help you determine which type of exercises will work best for you.
Choose an Activity
Pick an activity you enjoy. The more you enjoy your daily exercise routine the more likely you will be to actually stick with your routine. If you enjoy the water, set up a daily swimming routine. If you like to run, work out at the local track.
Consult Your Doctor
Before you start creating your daily exercise routine you should make an appointment to talk to your doctor. Your doctor won’t be able to tell you what time you should work out, but will be able to help you decide what exercises best will suit you, your body, and help improve your overall health. Make sure you tell your doctor your yearly exercise goal.
Start a Journal
When you are creating a daily exercise routine you should purchase a cheap spiral notebook. Record what you want to accomplish, exercise wise, in your journal. You should also write down your daily and weekly goals in your journal. After you work out each day you should record everything you did that day. Some people also use their exercise journal to record how many calories they ate each day.
Find an Exercise Partner
Find someone who is willing to exercise with you, preferably someone you like and who has similar exercise goals. Your exercise partner will make the whole exercise process more enjoyable. When you and your exercise partner start a daily exercise goal you need to make a pact that you will not accept any excuse not to exercise.
