Homemade Wine
Quite popular in parties and during any form of celebration, wines are popularly made from the fermentation of grape juice. Started off from being a tradition of old English hospitality,this low alcoholic beverage has become quite a favorite in every household. Wines are generally categorized under two labels: red and white. However, people are now gradually shifting to homemade wines which along with being inexpensive are also a great way of preparing wines according to one’s specific tastes. Winemaking at home is gaining popularity as it is a novel and a creative experience along with being extremely useful and yielding.
To make homemade wine, one needs 1 packet (.25 ounce) of active dry yeast, 4 cups sugar, 1 can frozen juice concentrate of any flavor except citrus and 3-4 quarts of cold water. To start the preparation procedure, one first needs to combine the yeast, sugar and juice concentrate in a gallon jug. Fill the jug the rest of the way with cold water. Rinse out a large balloon, and fit it over the opening of the jug. Secure the balloon with a rubber band and place the jug in a cool dark place. Within a day you will notice that the balloon starts to expand. This is because the sugar starts tuning to alcohol thereby releasing gasses which fill up the balloon. When the balloon is deflated back to size, the wine gets ready to drink. This procedure takes about 6 weeks in totality.
By following this simple yet effective method, one can prepare homemade wine according to the flavors of one’s own choice and taste. In addition, one can also make slight modifications or additions according to one’s desire. These homemade wines are gaining popularity due to their cost effective nature along with being a creative use of one’s time to prepare a thing which can be effectively used in the house.
