Herbs used for Common Respiratory Problems
There are a number of herbs specifically designed to address the complications that afflict pain and discomfort to our bodies on a day-to-day basis. We will cover a few of them here beginning with Mullein.
Mullein
Mullein originates from a flowering plant bearing hairy leaves. It is used as an expectorant to soothe mucous making it capable of being coughed-up. It can also be used to soothe the bronchial passages’ muscles. Mullein is found to be used for tuberculosis and even whooping cough associated with babies.
Angelica
Angelica originates from a flowering plant as well; however, it is a bit taller and derives from the carrot family. Angelica is said to work wonders for your digestive tract and your respiratory system.
It is also an expectorant; therefore, it will cause the mucous to be released through coughing it up. Angelica is designed to strengthen your lungs when weak and to fight off numerous infections.
Ginger
We’ve all heard of ginger, but are you aware that ginger can be used to fight off colds, eliminate phlegm, and work against bronchitis. It also can be used for your digestive system especially in the case of nausea while assisting in blood circulation.
Garlic
We’ve all heard of the amazing ability of garlic to work wonders on our immune system and digestive system while giving strength to our lungs.
There’s a sterilization process that takes place within your bronchial passages with the use of garlic. This process is said to be used for infections like tuberculosis.
Garlic is well documented to be great for colds. You take a fresh garlic and cut it open, place it a warm cup of tea and add some lemon juice with honey, take it and in a matter of 15 minutes it should immediately start to fight against antibacterial substances as well as the antimicrobial inhibitors. It is also said to be huge for tonsillitis, infections of the throat, and a host of other discomforts.
These are just a few of the herbs that are being used as remedies for common illnesses that hamper us in our everyday life. Check out the use of others like cinnamon, elecampane, coltsfoot, and thyme.
