Munching between meal times is quite common in children and as a parent you should ensure that your child munches healthy snacks and does not get into the habit of fatty and junk food. Many children face the problem of obesity due to their unhealthy forms of eating combined with sedentary existence. Thus, it becomes essential to develop the habit of healthy eating in children and this can be done by providing them with nutritious in between meal snacks which would keep them full as well as healthy.

To provide all the essential nutrients to your child, you can treat them with a home made healthy snack which involves cutting vegetables like carrots, celery, broccoli, sugar snap peas and lightly steamed green beans. This should be given with a dip made from cottage cheese and Ranch salad dressing whirred up in the blender. This provides the children with a healthy eating option which satisfies their hunger as well as their taste. Children love to eat sweet food items and the best way to develop healthy eating habits in them is to encourage them to eat naturally sweet foods from their early years. Best snacks for children include banana, orange, apple, strawberries or cherries. One can also mix in yogurt or make fruit dish from them with some milk or chocolate and natural flavors.

Other healthy snacks for children include fresh nuts or dry cereals. One can give them peanuts, walnuts, almonds and even dry breakfast cereals which are made from corn, wheat and bran. In addition, popcorns, rice cakes and even cupcakes made using whole grain flour can prove beneficial snacks for a child which helps in satisfying their hunger and taste along with providing them with essential nutrients. This would also help them to stay away from unhealthy snack items like chips, burgers and fatty or junk food.
