Healthy Seasonal Eating-Secret of Good Health

Now days it hardly matters what season it is regarding the availability fruits and vegetables. No matter if is summer or winter, all the fruits and vegetables are available throughout the year. Just enter a super market; you can pick up anything from the large variety available. One should take into consideration that only the seasonal stuff is healthy. All the variety of fruits and vegetables that are not seasonal are very expensive and they are not as nutritious as the seasonal stuff. Therefore, having knowledge of seasonal eatables is very necessary for a healthy body.

There is a wide range of fruits and veggies available during summer. These seasonal foods are very healthy. The list includes apricots, which are rich in vitamin A and iron; berries including strawberries, black berries and raspberries are good to taste as well as they are high in antioxidants. Then there are cherries, which are a very good source of vitamin C as well as anthocyanins.  Figs are summer season fruits that are high in calcium, magnesium and potassium, even avocados are found in abundance in summer and they are rich in vitamin B, vitamin E and vitamin K, in addition to having the highest fiber content. Another fruit which makes the hot summer refreshing is watermelon, which is rich in water; it also contains vitamins and antioxidants. Another fruit to be mentioned in this list is cantaloupes; it can fulfill about 60% of daily recommended dosage of vitamin C.

Apart from these fruits, there is a wide range of seasonal vegetables available. To start with there are Fava beans, which are high in proteins and iron. Then there are peppers which, are found in abundance in summer. To scorch the heat of the sun during summer, squash works right, and in addition to that it also contains lot of vitamin C.  Tomatoes are found in abundance in summer. Apart from being rich in various nutrients they have the power to protect the body from various deadly diseases.

So go ahead and enjoy the seasonal stuff for good health.
