Healthy Food
June 1, 2009
For a long time now, we have continued to be informed and educated on the ill effects of obesity. Despite being aware of the direct relationship between health and food, we continue to have a tendency to overlook matters connected with food, mainly due to our present day lifestyle.
Here, are a few ways to increase the content of health giving food in your daily schedule.
Smoothies
Being 100% fruit without any additional sugar, smoothies offer a very good alternative to consumption of natural fruits. You may buy it from the market like any other drink. You have a choice of buying vegetable smoothies too.
Yet, it’ll be a healthier option to make them at home. If you are smart enough to do a bit of multi-tasking while cooking, it really won’t take much of your time.
You can exercise your option of choosing any five of your favorite fruits from kiwi and grapes to apples and strawberries. The recipe is very simple. Crush a few oranges or any other juicy fruit of your choice.
To this juice add any few pieces of each of four other fruits and just churn it in a mixture and a very healthy breakfast is ready. Else you could have it after your workout session.
One may add whey protein into this mixture of fruit. Look at the advantages of a well prepared fruity. Using a broad variety of fruits, all in different colors gives you a large variety of vitamins and other nutrients, apart from fiber.
Likewise you may prepare vegetable fruity also. Just make sure to check the contents of packed or stored tomato juice that should not have extra sugar or more of salt.
Why not prepare tomato juice at home and then freeze it to avoid artificial preservatives and colors.
INCLUDE VEGETABLES into your snacks
Try to include some healthy snacks with your mid-day break for coffee. Try substituting some healthy vegetable salads as snacks. Cucumber, celery, and raw carrot are equally filling to help you to avoid an energy-drop caused by eating a sugar-rich snack.
You may not find these salads very tempting in the beginning, but once you develop this healthy practice, you will begin to miss those on the days you don’t have them. To get that zing, add a bit of lemon or mix a bit of yogurt.
