It will be asking too much if you are asked to eat nothing at all between meals. It seems almost impossible to do this. However, instead of not eating at all between meals, it is easier to snack on healthier options than chips and fries.
Several healthy snacks are easily available and are also easy to make so that you find it absolutely easy to make up these healthy and easy snacks.
Here are some ways you can make some healthy snacks and enjoy them without feeling guilty.
Tread the grainy path
Grains as well as products of whole grains can make some great healthy snacks. You can opt for breads, bagels, tortilla shells that are made from whole grain. Wholegrain cereals and pita bread are also good snacks.
Go the fruity way
Vegetables and fruits should be included in your daily diet and there is no better way to do it than to include them as snacks or desserts.
Carrots, broccoli florets, peppers, radishes, fruit juices and salads are some healthy snacks. You can have some fruits after dinner as dessert. Keep a fruit bowl handy on your table. This will encourage you to eat fruits more often.
Go the milky way
Although milk may seem to be a fattier option, low fat and skimmed versions are available, making this an almost irresistible option. Go for low fat yogurt and puddings.
Go lean
Lean cuts of meats and lunchmeat varieties are good and filling snacks. Make up some sandwiches with whole wheat bread and meat. It will fill you up and leave you satisfied.
Tuna sandwiches and egg sandwiches are also healthy choices of snacks.
Stay away from fat and salt
When you are trying to think of ways to prepare healthy snacks, remember that you need to keep yourself from the temptation of adding more salt or using high fat ingredients. For example, you can easily spoil a nice healthy salad by adding a fattening dressing to it. So, be very careful of all the things that you are using in your snacks.
