Diets and recipes that follow the guidelines of a healthy diet and are made of healthy foods can be referred to as healthy recipes and diets. The emergence of these kinds of recipes and diets is giving new ideas to people who are looking for new foods.
What are healthy recipes?
One characteristic of healthy recipes is that they reduce the amount of calories and fat you eat but add nutritional value to the food you eat. Healthy recipes are good because they prevent certain diseases like cardiovascular diseases and certain types of cancers.
What healthy recipes and diets should have
Eating healthy foods like fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, seeds nuts, legumes, grains and lentils can prevent certain common diseases associated with aging leading to a prolonged and enjoyable life. It is good to start eating healthy early if you want to enjoy the benefits later. You must start now. Nothing is too late so far as this is concerned.
If you want to eat a healthy diet, then your food should include some of these anytime you eat: eggplants, chili peppers, dates, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, fenugreek, almonds, green beans, ginger, lemon, lime, pears, potatoes, garlic, scallions, spinach and Soya beans. Others are tomatoes, wheat, olive oil, canola oil, onions and oranges.
Some useful tips
Healthy recipes should not contain too much fat. Too much fat will give you weight problems. Remove oil from marinade and add something acidic before you eat.
A healthy recipe should not contain too much calories.
There is no need to get carried away by descriptions of foods labeled cholesterol free. Most vegetables are cholesterol free. What matters is the fat content and not what the label says.
Eat more baked foods than fried foods. Frying increases the fat content of the food.
It is healthier to eat two egg whites than to eat one whole egg. Opt for fat free sour cream instead of regular ones which contain fat.
Only eat when you are hungry. Don’t eat while watching TV.
Avoid oils. Use olive oil or canola oil in small quantities if you have to eat food with oil.
