Chives are also known as garlic chives. This is a small species of onion family. Chives also include shallots and leeks. The spring garden looks more beautiful and colorful when chives bloom in the months of May and June. The pretty lavender-pink globular flower heads of chives not only beautify the garden, but they can also be used as a garnish for salad dishes.
