Headaches and migraine
Headache is one of the most common pains often accompanied with nausea, vomiting and an uneasy feeling. As estimated, 90% of men and 95% of women suffer from some kind of headache. The pain, in recent times, is a response to the exertions of modern life such as stress, fatigue, exposure to allergens, and lack of sleep. There are some effective approaches for treating and preventing ourselves from headaches.
Headaches are the outcome of malfunctioning of blood vessels, muscles, and also nerves of our brain. These faults in the process are like dilation of arteries or over- contraction of muscles causing activation of sensory nerves of the brain leads to headache. Hormones such as estrogen worsen the situation in women. Women undergo hormonal changes due to the monthly menstrual cycle, so they are more prone to moderate and severe headaches and other certain types of headaches, such as migraine.
Migraine pain is beyond description and inexpressible, but a large number of people are suffering from the pain of migraine. It refers to the typical pattern pain only on one side of the head, generally at the temple. The pain occurring side can change from one migraine attack to the next or within a single episode.
The pain varies from moderate to severe. It is unlike the normal headache or tension headache. It can keep you away from sleeping and even wake you up from sound sleep. Generally, the migraine pain is pulsating or throbbing in pattern. In severe migraines, it can be as unbearable as if a heavy axe is piercing or banging your head temple or eye.
Nausea and vomiting are common symptoms associated with migraine headache. Tight head, neck, and shoulder muscles can also be a part of a migraine headache. Bright lights and loud noises can deteriorate the pain, so a patient with a migraine headache should settle down quickly in quiet, dimly lit places.

You might also note that 1 in 4 migraines sufferers will experience visual disturbances such as dark spots or fire flies (as I call them) they look like embers from a fire rising and dissipating into the air. They come before the migraine onset, and in recent studies (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/04/070430102025.htm) have been shown to possibly even damage the connections between neurons in the brain. I have had migraines my whole life, in the past 10 years they have increase to a point that my daily life, work and social habits have suffered greatly. I urge anyone suffering to seek help, change your diet and get some exercise.
