When you choose a personal trainer, the person should get to know you inside and out. You want someone that can put you in the direction for you to be able to get the most out of your workout.
You also want the trainer to be physically fit as well. A personal trainer should eat healthy, work out and follow their own daily regime. How can you trust someone to tell you how to work out and eat if they don’t follow a plan themselves?
If you know someone that already has a personal trainer then speak with them about it. They may recommend the same person that they use or even know of another individual that is highly recommended. Word of mouth can be the best way to get a personal trainer.
If you have to find one on your own, do some research. Ask for references and background information. Make sure to make a list of potential trainers that you feel may be worth an interview. You can also go to the local gyms and find out.
After you have your list, give each one a call. See if you feel any type of connection with the people that you are speaking with. It is important that you feel comfortable with the trainer that you choose. First impressions can leave a lasting mark.
During the interview process, ask them if they are certified with any kind of training. Ask about their background when it comes to health and fitness. See if they have been to school for any type of training as well.
Once you find someone that you are comfortable with, discuss price and find out what they charge. Talk about schedules and discuss if you can book your training sessions in advance.
Don’t forget to ask for references. Remember, this is a job interview. Think of it as hiring an employee to a job at your office. You would do a background and criminal check on any new employee that you are looking to hire. Think of your personal trainer as a new employee.
