Getting rid of Diarrhea
Diarrhea is defined as the passage of multiple watery, loose, or unformed stools. Diarrhea is not a disease, but rather, a medical condition that could be indicative of disease, illness, allergy, or infection. Diarrhea is only a symptom and therefore, treatment depends entirely on its cause. Most cases of diarrhea are self-limiting, though chronic diarrhea may be a sign of other health problems and should be brought to the attention of your doctor. Adults experience an average of 4 bouts of diarrhea each year.
Diarrhea has many causes, including viral, bacterial, and parasitic infections. Diarrhea often accompanies the flu and similar viral conditions. The most common causes of diarrhea include stress, food poisoning, Malabsorption Syndrome, food allergy.
The best way to get rid of diarrhea is to drink plenty of water and fluids, as your body looses considerable amount of fluids during loose motions, so the best way to recover fluids is to drink plenty of water and other fluids. The best type of drink that is recommended to get rid of diarrhea is a mixture of salt and sugar in water.
Cutting certain foods out of your diet with the onset of diarrhea will helps you getting rid of diarrhea faster. Foods that you should avoid include dairy products, foods that are high in fat content, fried foods, foods that are high in fiber, and very spicy foods. Dairy products and high-fiber foods are impossible for you to digest, and spicy food will only irritate your intestinal wall, exacerbating your diarrhea problem.
Yogurt is the one dairy product you can eat to help getting rid of diarrhea. Yogurt is good for you when you’ve got the runs because it contains some of the good digestive bacteria you have lost during loose motions. Introducing low-fiber and semi-solid foods is a good way to treat diarrhea. Once your body starts to recuperate a little, it’s time to get some easily digestible foods in your stomach.
