Aren’t ripped abs the dream of every guy and girl? You cannot achieve those fab abs without determination and a fair amount of effort. The reason that abs are so difficult to show is that our body fat, at least most of it, is stored in the abdominal area. It is difficult to lose fat from here.
Read on to make your dream a reality.
Genetic factor
Everybody is made different. Every man has his own unique body type and structure. Your abs may be shaped differently from the magazine pictures you are seeing and hence, even if you lose enough fat, they might not appear exactly the same.
Food factor
Everybody has ab muscles. Then why don’t we see them? Well, the reason is that they are usually hidden behind a layer of fat. You should control and monitor what you are eating. This is a major step towards getting great abs.
You should eat a balanced diet, there is no need to cut on fats and carbohydrates. You should take them but do not go crazy on them. Keep a healthy balance in your diet.
Ab routine
You need to get a regular ab routine. Regularly performing the right exercises will help you lose the fat that is hiding your abs and make them visible.
Your abs are used in almost all the exercises and hence, it just makes sense that you strengthen them.
Exercise ball movements
You can do a variety of movements with this tool. You can go for basic front and side crunches, ball kick-outs and lying leg raises with the ball between your legs.
Weighted exercises
Weighted exercises are great if you want to increase the size of your ab muscles. You can go for decline weighted sit-ups, weight abdominal twists and hanging leg raises with weight strapped onto your ankles. You should treat your ab muscles like you would treat any other muscle and exercise accordingly.
Isometric contraction exercises
These will help you contract your ab muscles and keep them contracted for a while. As a result, you will be able to flex them more often and for longer time so that they will appear even more.
You can perform the plank exercise or simply tense your abs and hold them for 10 seconds and release. Repeat this a couple of times and you will see the difference.
