It is common for women to gain weight during pregnancy, sometimes they can gain up to 35 pounds. However, the normal average for pregnancy weight gain is around 25 pounds.
Usually when the baby is born, anywhere between 12 and 14 pounds are lost. This figure includes the weight of the baby, losing the amniotic sack and other things.
