Want to loose those extra pounds? Not sure what diet chart to follow? Yes, even though you are working out, you need to see what you are eating as well. Starving yourself is not a good idea. The body needs food. So give your body the best.

When it comes to staying fit and fine, the first thing you need to add to your food list is fruit. They contain vitamins and you have a wide variety to choose from. While you are adding fruit to your meal, you have to keep certain things in mind.

First of all have the fresh fruit and not in juice form, unless they are fresh juice free of preservative and extra sugar. Fresh fruits contain sugar, thus you do not need the extra calorie. But it is far better to have the fruit as they contain a good amount of fiber which the juice does not contain.

Always go for the fresh fruits. Sure you will find canned mangoes in winter and what not. But it is better to avoid them as they do not contain the same amount of fiver as the fresh fruits. And at the same time, the canned fruits are always sweet. That is the same reason why it is better to avoid foreign imported fruits, as they contain preservatives. These preservatives can have adverse effect on your health. Go for the ones that are fresh from the garden.

Since you have a wide variety of fruits to choose from, it is better to know what fruit contains what vitamins. For example watermelon is one fruit that will quench your thirst and at the same time provide you with vitamin c, pectin, iron and potassium.

Both papaya and mango are great source of vitamin C. They also contain vitamin A, beta-carotene and fiber. But if you are looking for something that will improve your immune system then you should go for blue berries, blackberries and strawberries. These berries also fight against cancer and prevent heart diseases.

Of course you can not miss oranges, a great source of vitamin C. This fruit works like a magic potion for cold.
