Fruitarian Diet
Fruitarian is a group of fruits consuming people mostly because of their specific dietary preference due to health purpose, environmental or ecological accountability or moral principles. A fruitarian diet consists of only different fruits from various plants and excluding all other parts.
In this kind of a diet, the particular portion of the plants, which are eaten, that can be collected without damaging the plant. For example, nuts, fruits, seeds and different edible part of the plant body.
Fruits such as apples, oranges, pears etc. and seed including reproductive organs of budding plants like nuts, beans, peas, seeds, pumpkins, tomatoes, squash, berries, capsicums, cucumbers, grains etc, can be consumed. But potatoes, carrots, or spinach etc., which destroy the plant, is not part of the fruitarian diet.
A real fruitarian considers that uprooting vegetable from the roots, such as a lettuce leaf or a potato as to wounding and damaging the plant, which is in opposition to the result of no injury or death.
This kind of a diet is restricted in variety but not in nutrition. The nuts provide a rich source of protein, and cereals or grains are recommended for a proper diet.
This kind of a diet is not easy to maintain as long-term habit of this kind of diet can lead to health troubles and deficiencies. For example, deficiency of Vitamin B12 generally occurs which is vital for usual function of nervous system and creation of blood cells. Only microorganisms like bacteria produce Vitamin B12.
The most important sources of vitamin B12 are eggs, dairy products and meat, which are not included in the fruitarian diet. Diabetic or hypoglycemia is another ailments, which is common because of more sugar existence in the fruitarian diet. Secondly, it is deficient in minerals, fat-soluble vitamins and protein, which are all the more essential to maintain a balance. Long lasted fruitarians suffer from craving for food and subsequently indulge in binge eating.
