Free Weights are better for Skinny Guys
There are arguments as to which type of weightlifting is good for the skinny guys. There are some people who advocate machine training, but there are serious reasons to prove that free weights are the best way to go. Here are some of these reasons.
Machine workouts
During machine training only the same muscles are in use. It is a fixed kind of training. This might encourage micro-trauma leading eventually to injury.
Using a machine during training will make you end up working the same fibers and movers all the time whiles the rest of them remain unaffected; and there is nothing much you can do about the situation.
Using the Smith machine will greatly reduce stabilizer activity. The machine does the stabilizing for you.
This will give you a problem if you one day have to return to free weight training. At that point you will come face to face with real life and you will be found wanting.
There is a kind of illusion about machine workouts. You get to lift more weight and that gives you the feeling that you are strong. This is not actually the case when you face real life situation, for example if you have to push a car or lift something heavy.
You are shocked to see how weak you really are. You can never be strong enough if you do machine workouts.
Free weights
Now here are the reasons why free weights are better.
You get to make use of your stabilizer muscles during training. This makes you stronger and more stable when the real chance to prove this arrives.
Your body is challenged better; thus you make more gains during your training. The exercises offered by free weights are better. There are more varieties with free weights.
There are dead lifts, squats, overhead presses, bench presses, and barbell rows. With the variety of activities come variations in motion.
It doesn’t mean that you can’t use machines if you go for free weights. You can add a few exercises from the machine. The only thing is that the machine should not take over from free weight workouts completely. The best choice for the skinny guys is definitely free weights as its results are faster and better.
