Four ways to improve your diet
Several people make decisions to lose weight and lead a healthy lifestyle every year; however, fewer are able to maintain and keep to their decisions.
Nevertheless, it is always a good start to make a commitment. Here are some tips that will help you keep from straying.
Keep a food diary
Before you can embark on a diet or start to make changes in your lifestyle, you will need to find out what your lifestyle is. In order to get it right, keep a food diary in which you can record what you put in your mouth everyday.
You should also note down the amount of the food that you are eating, that is the portion size. Noting down how the food affects your feelings can also be a good thing to do.
This will help you see things in a different way. You might not have realised how much good or bad you have been doing all this time. It will help to set up good and healthy eating patterns, while making you answerable to yourself, which can help you keep from mindless eating.
Along with recording the food that you eat, also write down your weight every week so that you know if you are progressing or not.
Add some vegetables
When your parents insisted that you finish the vegetables on your plate, they were right in doing so.
Vegetables are a great source of several nutrients besides dietary fibre, which is important for keeping your digestive system healthy. Having fruits, vegetables, beans and whole grains in abundance will help you nourish yourself better.
Stir fry or roast your veggies to make them tastier to eat.
Get rid of the temptations
Instead of testing your will power, it is better to do away with those temptations altogether. Keep only those foods that are healthy and nutritious in your kitchen.
Keep going
If you feel like giving in and stop your healthy routine, then remember that you have worked hard till now so do not let that effort be in vain.
If you do fall back, do not stay there, come back with attitude. It is alright for everybody to make mistakes. However, the secret to success is to keep going.
