Fitness Routine for Kids

fitnessforkidIn this day age, with the proliferation of computers, video games, and cable television, most young kids lead very sedentary lives. They do not get any physical activity like generations before them.

As a result, many young girls and boys are not very physically fit. Obesity among children has increased about 50% over a period of about fifteen years.

There are other, indirect complications because of this. Type II diabetes has now become a disease that can be contracted by adolescents and teenagers. Therefore, it is important to make sure your children gets the exercise they need. To do this, it may be necessary to enroll them in a fitness or strength training program.

Strength Training is Good for Kids

Strength training is very effective when it comes to increasing the strength of bones. Although the previous view was that strength training had adverse effects on young bones, there has recently been new evidence to support the opposite.

The earlier view was due to the fact that you need testosterone to increase the strength of muscles and young children do not have high levels of it. A study where pre adolescent children engaged in a training program for two months showed that these kids did have increased muscle strength, sometimes even a 100% increase.

This two-month training was followed by another two months without any sort of training. The children who participated were shown to be stronger than those who did not have the training and they were able to keep about 50% of their muscle strength. This shows that those who do not have high amounts of testosterone excelled when it came to strength training.

Benefit to Kids

Kids who are enrolled in a strength-training program will only stand to gain its benefits, as there have yet been no injuries when training is done properly.

Not only will their muscle strength increase, they will also be more confident and get used to a lifestyle that is more active in a world where people are becoming more sedentary. There are also many kits and accessories made especially for children including yoga mats, yoga blocks, and yoga balls.
