Fat burning techniques

March 20, 2009

Start your workout plan with a stimulating and refreshing cup of green tea.  Green tea is naturally caffeinated and will add a boost of energy to get you pumped up.  Begin your workout routines with at least forty minutes of cardiovascular activity three times a week.  It is important to remember this when you are performing cardiovascular exercises to keep your heart rate up.  A high heart rate will burn fat more effectively than a stagnant heart rate.

Incorporate some weight training into your cardiovascular routine.

Use weights at least twice a week.  Weight training burns fat while building lean muscle mass.  It also stimulates your metabolism so that eventually, you not only burn fat while you are working out, but also when your body is at rest.  As you become more acclimatised to your combination routine of cardiovascular and weight training exercises, step it up a notch.  Alternate between running and walking, or speed walking.  If you perform the same workout routine for an extended period of time your body will become used to it and will not exert enough energy during your performance.  Use your daily activities as a form of additional exercise and conditioning.  Instead of driving to run your errands, decide to walk or ride a bike.  Always take the stairs when an elevator is the other option.

Now that you know what to do physically to burn fat, let’s look at your food consumption habits.  There’s nothing that says you cannot indulge once in a while, but do it in moderation.  Keep in mind that when you consume additional calories, you will need to find a way to burn them off.  Trade in the old adage of eating three square meals a day for a new plan of eating five to six small, well balanced meals a day.

Eating small meals throughout the day keeps your metabolism running and therefore burning fat.  The foods that you consume should be high in protein as protein builds muscle. Eat plenty of green leafy vegetables and complex carbohydrates such as whole wheat.  It is important to drink a lot of water while trying to burn fat.  Water purifies your body by flushing out waste and keeping your metabolism pumping.

The last piece of advice is not to make yourself nuts while on this weight loss program.  Do not obsess about everything you eat.  As you become more health and fitness aware, your body will know what to do with those excess calories that you are permitted to consume as a special treat.
