Exercises To Manage Blood Pressure
If you have hypertension then there is a good chance that you have high blood pressure. Depending upon your age group, different types of exercises can actually help you to reduce your blood pressure and help you to feel better.
There are many different types of exercises that can lower your blood pressure, but there are many that can help to control your blood pressure as well. These exercises would be endurance exercises such as walking, jogging, swimming, stair climbing and even bike riding. Another way to help hypertension is to lift weights. A combination of the two will put you in great shape.
By losing weight through exercise it will help to reduce your blood pressure right off the bat. One of the ways that this works is by causing you to sweat and breathe quicker. This will expel water and salt from your body. This is the same result from taking a diuretic.
Exercising also affects your adrenaline and the insulin in your body. By lowering your heart rate from training, it would be the same thing as taking a beta blocker. The insulin levels in your body will be reduced from working out, which in turn will reduce your blood pressure.
If you are wondering how long you should exercise for the answer is quite simple. Start out with 20 minutes and slowly work your way up to 30 minute workouts. You want to do these workouts at least three times a week.
When you are trying to decide on the types of exercises you should do, it is important to remember that you should pick ones that you are interested in doing. They should also be exercises that will fit into the time you have to work out.
If you are already on medication for your blood pressure, be sure to speak with your doctor before you start your program to make sure that there will not be any adverse reactions. Certain medications can affect you differently when you are working out. No matter what the medications are, speak with your physician first.
