Exercises to increase power
If you are looking for a way to increase your power and your strength, plyometric training is a great type of exercise. This involves a lot of jumping and moving around, so if you experience any type of joint or muscle pain, then you may want to pass on this type of exercise.
First tip to this is to make sure that you start out small, with working out and then building up to a stronger intensity. When you are doing vertical jumps, be sure that you are in a 90 degree position for the jump. Envision your entire self and not just your feet when doing this jump to get the most distance. These can be considered as bounds. When doing this, begin by running and then pushing off with you’re your left foot, reach with your right arm and land on your left foot. Switch sides.
Another exercise are single leg hops. Keep your body straight while doing these. Hop forward on one foot and use the other leg for momentum. Land on the ball of your foot, do this a few times and the switch to the other leg.
Bunny hops are wonderful for strength building. Start in a standing position, squat and jump. Do small jumps, keep your legs together and when landing, do so on the balls of your feet. Tuck jumps are started from a standing position and while jumping up, you want to grab your knees and pull to your chest. This will be hard at first but you will get the hang of it.
Some other great exercises are jumping jacks, skipping rope, squat thrust and the ever moving windmill. All of these will help you to increase your power and your strength. Start off slow with these if you have never had any type of strength training in the past. Work your way up to a more powerful you. Remember, take baby steps, since you should crawl before you walk. You will feel more fit and more powerful than ever before with a little bit of time and patience.
